MATERIAL MANAGEMENT


This Department has the responsibility of completing material orders for the hospital, including the ordering of personal items for the patients (soaps, deodorants, and other items which are given to each patient when they are admitted to the hospital) and the ordering of housekeeping supplies and equipment; maintenance materials, supplies, and equipment; surgical materials, supplies, and equipment, and the nursing supplies, materials, and equipment. They are also responsible for ordering other equipment and supplies for each Department’s use in the hospital; for stocking all the supplies, and for maintaining records for the requisition process for the entire hospital. Adding to the already arduous responsibilities of this Department, an integral responsibility of the Material Management Department is to consistently and effectively perform daily Inventory control. This responsibility consists of maintaining each hospital’s department material/equipment inventory quota. Employees for the Department include a Receiving Clerk, whose duties are to make certain each department is stocked with the needed supplies and equipment for their daily use. The Director of Material Management is responsible for supervising the Receiving Clerk staff and for maintaining the Material Management Department, including inventory control and the ordering process.
